This is an incredibly rare 1965 quarter made on a 90% silver planchet left over from 1964.
These “transitional error” coins happened when a few leftover 1964 90% silver planchets got minted together with “Clad” Planchets or The Wrong Metal Error/Planchet Error. This coin is one of the most famous and sought-after errors in the 1965 quarter.
