The National Geographic is known for it's fine maps & detailed information. Supplement to the National Geographic Magazine; magazine is not included.
For centuries, Mars and the idea of it being inhabited has stoked our imaginations. It was thought to be like Earth, but as we discovered, it is only a cold, dry planet with a thin carbon dioxide atmosphere. The map side of this study is titled "Mars" and contains an excellent map of the eastern and western hemispheres of Mars constructed from a mosaic of images taken by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor. On it are identified the major features and a description of it's moons. The reverse art-side is titled "Colonizing Mars" and is an illustration of what some scientists think an outpost on forbidding Mars would look like.
