Akha hilltribe Porcelain doll

Dress has a small hole as seen in photos and missing two feathers on headdress. For sale is this handcrafted porcelain doll dressed in traditional Akha hill tribe clothing.  One of the six main hill tribes of Northern Thailand, the Akha are known for their ornate headdresses, which are worn almost constantly.  Far from being a display of wealth or flamboyance, the headdresses are an important part of the Akha's religious philosophy, the Akha Way, which guides their daily lives. But while the Akha are the most conservative and traditional of the hill tribes, they are one of the most exquisitely dressed, with ornate leggings and beautifully decorated sashes that extend just beyond the hem of their understated skirts.  This sitting porcelain Akha doll is approximately 12" tall, in the sitting position, and approximately 17" tall with legs outstretched.
