This set includes a specially made file is used for deburring and smoothing off the ends of the frets plus detailed instructions for use. Sharp fret ends are especially problematic on guitars and other stringed instruments. After the fingerboard shrinks a little and the frets stick out the sides of the board. By rounding off the corners of the frets on a new guitar they will not become a nuisance as they begin to protrude out the sides of the fingerboard over time. The file can also be used on older guitars which already have sharp or protruding fret ends. The file has two smooth edges, these are used against the timber fingerboard and are smooth so they will safely glide over the timber and not dig into the fingerboard. The cutting edges are then used to take off the corners of the fret. With a little practice a full fingerboard only takes a matter of minutes.
