Ancient Gilded bronze garment clasp 3rd century BCE 5th century CE AD

This now pendant is the second part and cousin of the hook and loop fasteners we use today. The way this piece worked was the rounded end looped into the receiving end "round opening" to the first part of the fastener. This made a no slip clasp that would keep your clothing on rather than falling off. Since buttons we're not typically used by humanity until the 13th-16th century. These clasps were the norm for the everyday person in order to keep their clothing up for a few thousand years. Even though buttons were in use around 2000 BCE they were mostly used by nobility throughout almost every culture. They were to expensive and out of reach for the majority of society.
