Apple Macbook A1181 White Junk

I purchased this used some time ago and used it only briefly.
I only needed to view PDFs, so I only used it for a few days, and then it sat in my bag for many years.

I'm not familiar with Macs, so I haven't initialized it.
It seems like it can be updated, so please update it as needed.

I bought a new power cable from a major online retailer (not Apple).

The reasons for being junk are:
・The screen is dim (probably needs the backlight replaced)
・The screen, such as the browser, is partially distorted. (See photos)
Moving the mouse cursor moves the static area, so I could confirm the contents of the screen. This phenomenon did not occur in the settings screen.
・I don't know how to use the optical drive, so its operation is unconfirmed.

・The keyboard and trackpad work normally.
