The Böker Wasabi is the kind of knife you'd use to cut a fine piece of steak in a good restaurant. Its incredibly slim profile and thin blade make it perfect for cutting meat, vegetables, and fruit. A true gentleman's knife.
You open the 440C steel blade with the front flipper. This is a small latch protruding from the front of the handle that helps you open the knife. When opened, the blade is kept in place by a slipjoint mechanism. In this case, it's a detent slipjoint, where there are two detents with detent balls on the inside of the handle that keep the blade open. It's not a real lock, so you can press it closed again, but it's enough to keep your fingers safe during normal use.
