Father Juniper Bookends by Shaffer, 1958
These are ceramic bookends with a little vintage religious humor. One bookend says, “Read any good books lately?” and the other shows her holding a Bible and it says, “it’s in excellent condition sir, it was owned by an atheist.”
There are two spots with paint chips, but they are small - swipe to see the picture where it shows them.
Father Juniper items were known for their simplicity and passion for Jesus. It was a syndicated cartoon series started by Father Fred McCarthy in the mid-1950s.
Aside from the two small paint chips, the bookends are in excellent condition. The paint and words are all still vibrant and clear.
I found one listing on Worth Point, but I can’t see when or for how much it sold. I found no other listings for this set.
