In 1850 Fumagalli & Pianca weaving mill started their operations in Milan, under the leadership of Germano Fumagalli. At the end of the 1800's, it was normal practice to get a tie made from Fumagalli at their headquarters in via Sirtori. After choosing a design from the archive, one could watch their tie woven and admire the hand stitch finishing as the cloth passed down the hand frame. This tie has been gently used.
