The new US Army ECWCS Generation III (GEN III) refers to a system composed of 7 types of tops and 5 types of bottoms, designed to adapt to various climates and situations.
This Level 7 serves as the final layer of cold-weather outerwear, with PrimaLoft used as the inner insulation. PrimaLoft is a high-tech material made of polyester, said to be about 8 times warmer than down.
The main feature is that, unlike down wear, there are no feathers to come out, and it requires less maintenance. It is machine washable, lightweight, and has a soft texture.
If the waterproof and breathable properties are reduced due to dirt, the function will be restored by washing.
