Very Rare “Marc Chagall,” compiled by Franz Meyer, published by Harry N. Abrams and printed and bound in Japan. Does not say what year this book was published. But from research it seems this was an early 1963 edition because of the Japan manufacture (printed and bound there). This Japan make accounts for the sturdiness of its construction. Yes this book was cared for over the years, but the near mint condition is possibly due to the finest materials and techniques used in Japanese bookmaking in the 1950’s/1960’s.
Mylar plastic preserves the dust cover. 775 pages. 1250 illustrations. 53 tipped-in color plates like the last picture featured in the above Mercari description photos.
