The METASPEED™ LD spike helps sprinters take longer strides with less effort. Formed with FF BLAST TURBO™ cushioning, this shoe allows you to experience a more responsive rebound at toe-off. It’s teamed with a full-length carbon plate that catapults you forward with an extended stride length. The outsole’s pinless carbon construction is designed to increase traction. Rather than piercing the track’s surface, it glides across the top to help you conserve energy in between steps.
As of this spring it was the only legal carbon plated racing flat for the track. The bottoms have plastic cleating for traction. I have another pair of these that I ran a track 10k in and they are my favorite shoe. I have worn vapor flies for lots of races and dragon flies and I thought I loved those until I wore this model. Legit my favorite shoe for track racing. Currently is being sold online by asics for $250.
