Moomin Valley's Comet - First Edition - With Sleeve Case

The original novel was written in Swedish by Tove Jansson, a Finnish painter and author. In 1992, it was released as a triple feature with "Little Twins: Our Summer Flies Away" and "Magical Princess Minky Momo: Phoenix in the Key." Some scenes were cut for the theatrical release as part of the triple feature. It was not released theatrically in English. The story depicts the events just after the Moomin family moved to Moominvalley, before the TV series, but there are inconsistencies, such as the appearance of the Fyonka family, who appeared during the TV series.

In 2010, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Moomin's birth, a remastered DVD was released, featuring commentary by the main cast (Minami Takayama, Ikuko Tani, Rei Sakuma, Takehito Koyasu) and English dubbing.
