Aogami-ichigo is the kind f steels which has it’s roots in Yasuki-Hagane, a traditional Japanese steel, and is characterized by it’s hardness and long lasting sharpness.
Yasuki is located western part of Japan and has been a production area of high quality iron sand since ancient times in the country.
Even today, most of Japanese swords are made from the iron sand that can be obtained particularly in this area by the method the traditional Tatara Blowing.
