It is a top-tier pomelo variety exclusively produced in Thailand and is considered a royal tribute. This variety is also known by other appealing names such as Thai Ruby Green Pomelo, Thai Ruby Pomelo, and Siam Ruby Pomelo. It originates from Nakhon Si Thammarat in southern Thailand.
The fruit has a pear-like shape, with individual fruit weighing between 3 to 7 pounds. The peel is fine, smooth, and glossy, ranging from green to yellow-green, with clearly visible pores. The peel is relatively thin and easy to remove. The flesh’s color is not much different from that of ordinary red pomelos, but when the Ruby Pomelo is cut horizontally, you can see that the flesh is not uniformly red. Each segment’s outer layer is red, while the part near the core is yellow. The Ruby Pomelo typically has 9 to 12 segments, with well-defined and closely packed flesh.
