He is sturdy, detailed, creepy and awesome.
He caught my eye a few years back at an auction.
I know there’s a crazy story behind him and wish I had knowledge of it.
The Philippines are known for their mythology and folklore.
They believe a gnome or “duende” have the power to attract through personal magnetism and charm.
They are known to bring good luck. Their definition for them is “little creatures who provide good fortune or foretell an ominous fate to people.”
He is a one of a kind piece of art.
Even though he can come off as a little creepy, I’ve always believed he has protected my home. That’s my take on the artist having him hold the house in his arms and a saw in his hand.
