Hessonite Garnets are known for their orangey-red colors. This particular color is called volcanic fire, and it is very difficult to capture in still pictures. The picture in outdoor light comes closest to the beauty of this stone - the other photos are taken in room lighting. You can see how clean this stone is by looking at the back and in the mirror. This is a superb stone.
This stunner is a VVS (eye clean) stone, cushion cut, measuring 10.90 x 8.60 x 7.30 mm, with excellent luster. It was mined in Sri Lanka. Garnets are January's birthstone and the traditional gemstone for celebration of 2nd anniversaries. At nearly 7 carats, this stone would make a huge ring, or a very nice size pendant.
