There are 6 LEDs incorporated right into the dial (3 for low light reading of time, 3 for flashlight mode) push the button once you get illumination for reading in the dark (watch does have lumi hands and markers if your hands are full) push it a 2nd time for flashlight mode which will stay engaged for 25 seconds.
Watch is completely rechargeable and comes with "fire plug" charging stand (pictured above).
