Moles create runs beneath grass, raising turf. Flatten a section foot & the mole re-opens the tunnel by re-lifting the turf. This trap takes advantage of this knowledge.
Six spikes are drawn up against a coil spring & retained by plate & lever.
Two long ground spikes are inserted above a flattened run so that the trigger plate sits on the surface of flattened run.
When a mole attempts to push through, the trigger plate lifts, triggering a catch & releasing the 6 spikes guillotine-style to effect a kill.
(The trap lost favour with pro catchers because the spikes damaged pelts, rendering them worthless.)
This is a vintage item so expect wear, rust, dents, and/or scratches. (No. I have not tested it.)
