I've had this since like forever. From the 60's-definitely! My mom bought this and I had no idea what is was used for then nor do I know what it is for now. But I'm going to say anyone who is versed in science or math would find this interesting and might be a great teaching tool for young children. The pamphlet included explains each piece, it's volume, determining volume and some experiments you can do.
I do know that each piece weighs .7 oz., except the cone which weighs .8 oz. All together they weigh 4.9 oz. They are in very good condition. The cone has some very small chips at its base. See pic.
I do not think the Edmund Scientific Co. Is still around. Barrington. NJ is located in southern Jersey. This set was made in Japan.
