Gorgeous color on this hand glazed, hand thrown one of a kind pottery platter. Artist Mel Simpson created in St. Helena, CA in 1981. Not many pieces of his can be found. He is a known ceramist, tile muralist and ceramic artist who is a teacher of art. His fabulous colors take this Etruscan style to modern times even in 1981 and are wonderful today. Tones of butternut, purple, orange, blue, black and brown. 11” w x 2” high. No signs of cracks, crazing or scratches.
