17” Wood Fore Plane
This is from about the 1850’s
It’s the predecessor of the famous Stanley No.6 Plane
Measures:
17-1/2” long
2-1/2” wide
2” wide cutter
This is a very old plane, please see the pictures for details and condition.
The iron is made of laminated iron and carbon steel. This is a process where the best and hardest carbon tool steel was only used at the cutting edge (sort of like the way carbide tip teeth are added to circular saw blades today).
